The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality and Compliance Officer to support the effective delivery of compliance, governance, and risk management activities across the organisation.
The role involves maintaining oversight of compliance systems and reporting, supporting adherence to statutory and regulatory frameworks (including OfS requirements where applicable), and contributing to audit, risk management, and business continuity processes.
You will work collaboratively across teams to embed compliance practices and ensure organisational standards are maintained and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance and Risk Coordination
•\tSupport the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance frameworks and policies
•\tMaintain accurate records and evidence to demonstrate compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements
•\tSupport regulatory submissions (including OfS where applicable), ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
•\tAssist with internal audits, reviews, and risk assessments to identify gaps and improvements
Governance
•\tSupport governance structures, including servicing committees and meetings
•\tManage systems (e.g. SharePoint) for storing, tracking, and reporting compliance documentation
•\tProduce clear and concise reports highlighting key findings, risks, and operational themes
Project and Systems Support
•\tApply project management approaches to support compliance-related initiatives
•\tAssist with system improvements, process mapping, and workflow efficiencies
•\tSupport the integration of compliance practices across departments
Collaboration and Communication
•\tWork collaboratively with academic and professional services teams to promote a culture of compliance
•\tCommunicate complex regulatory information clearly to non-specialist audiences
•\tSupport delivery of projects and ensure deadlines are met
•\tRepresent the department at internal and external meetings when required
•\tWork respectfully and inclusively with a diverse range of colleagues
Professional Development and Continuous Improvement
•\tMaintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory frameworks and developments in compliance and risk management
•\tContribute to improving compliance tools, processes, and reporting methods
•\tProvide support to other departments on quality and compliance matters when required
About You
Essential
•\tDegree (2:1 or above) or equivalent relevant experience
•\tStrong understanding of compliance, risk management, and governance principles
•\tKnowledge of project management approaches (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, or similar)
•\tExperience working collaboratively within a team or matrix environment
•\tExperience managing administrative or reporting processes with strong attention to detail
•\tStrong organisational, analytical, and communication skills
•\tAbility to interpret and present complex information clearly
•\tAbility to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
•\tProactive and solution-focused approach
Desirable
•\tQualification or training in compliance, risk management, or project management
•\tFamiliarity with UK higher education regulatory frameworks (e.g. OfS)
•\tExperience in a regulated or higher education environment
•\tExperience supporting audits or compliance activities
•\tExperience using systems such as SharePoint, Power BI, or similar tools
•\tAbility to support workshops, briefings, or training sessions
•\tContinuous improvement mindset with strong stakeholder engagement skills
