Structural Engineer

The role goes beyond pure calculations – you’ll be actively involved in assessing existing structures, advising on strengthening solutions, and developing practical, buildable designs. With a strong emphasis on long-term development, the business is committed to supporting chartership and nurturing engineers through to senior leadership – evidenced by team members who have progressed from junior roles to director level.\n\nThe client is looking for a proactive and technically capable engineer who combines strong analytical ability with practical problem-solving skills. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk all day – it requires curiosity, communication, and a willingness to engage with projects from concept through to site delivery.\n\nWhat’s On Offer\n\n• Strong support towards Chartership with mentorship from experienced engineers.\n\t\n• Exposure to a wide variety of complex and heritage-focused projects.\n\t\n• A clear progression pathway within a business known for long-term staff retention.\n\t\n• Opportunity to work across both consultancy and contractor environments.\n\t\n• Close-knit team culture with real influence on project outcomes and business direction.\n\nWhat You Need To Succeed\n\nMinimum of 4+ years’ experience in structural engineering (post-graduate).\n\t\nExperience in both temporary works (TW) and permanent works / refurbishment design.\n\t\nStrong skills in structural analysis, calculations, and design development.\n\t\nAbility to assess existing structures and propose strengthening or repair solutions.\n\t\nComfortable undertaking site visits and liaising with contractors and clients.\n\t\nA problem-solving mindset with a focus on practical, buildable solutions.\n\t\nGood communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.\n\t\nAmbition to progress professionally and work towards Chartership.\n\t\nChartered with IStructE or ICE (preferred but not essential).\n\t\nMEng or BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
